A lot of people think Texas is nothing but cowboys.  At the top of the pages of this book, the little kid recites the need for all that cowboy "stuff" -- hat, horse, and guitar.  But the mother insists there are other things to see and do.  Come along and find the NASA Space Center, dinosaur tracks, rattlesnake roundups, a circus museum, and lots more.  Have fun traveling Texas!

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT THIS BOOK:

Books of the Southwest:  "For the early grades, this enthusiastic bilingual book packs a lot of information about Texas into the ebullient statements of a youngster about to make a trip, the responses of his Mother, and "footnote" texts that explain why Texas isn't "just" anything.   Illustrator Roeder gives us a good reminder about preconceptions!"

Judyth Rigler, book editor, San Antonio Express News:   "Houston-based Colophon House has published a charming new picture book....The illustrations are delightful, and along the bottom of each page, the author includes bits of Texas history and folklore....The illustrator's unusual angles tease the reader and the final page contains a big surprise."

Review of Texas Books:  "Attractive, brightly colored drawings by Virginia Marsh Roeder and catchy English rhymes by Mary Dodson Wade with Spanish translations by Guadalupe C. Quintanilla."
